Automated louvres from Safetyline Jalousie make up the impressive western façade on Pulteney Grammar’s new Middle School building in Adelaide, South Australia.
Designed by JPE Design Studio for South Australian Anglican Education, the new Middle School features a unique façade made up of automated louvres, allowing for both ventilation and views over the scenic quadrangle. The façade complements the light, airy and colourful learning environments that have been created throughout the campus.
Safetyline Jalousie supplied 44 automated louvre systems, each measuring 3090mm in height (with 7 blades) and 1218mm in width. Finished in Zeus White Gloss, the system features louvres made from 6.38mm Clear Laminate as well as LDF100 drives for the motorised operation.
To achieve the design aesthetic envisaged by the architect, Safetyline Jalousie used a combination of randomly placed glass and custom flat blade aluminium louvres. The aluminium was powder-coated in various blue and green hues to create the interesting mosaic effect, which filters natural light into the second storey lounge area.
Safetyline Jalousie louvres additionally addressed specific design concerns of the architectural team with respect to fall prevention and risks associated with impact. These louvre systems could be confidently installed without making any modifications, thanks to the test data and certification from accredited testing laboratories.
