How to use the Shop feature on Instagram to buy products

If you are a frequent Instagram user, chances are you may have noticed some posts in your feed with a small shopping bag icon, tucked in the lower left-hand corner.  This is Instagram’s Shop feature, which includes products offered by hundreds of brands and retailers across the world — and it’s a wise investment from the social media platform.   Analysts told Business Insider that Instagram’s move to shopping will be so successful that it will generate $10 billion in revenue by 2021. Using the Shop feature is easy, too. Any post with a shopping bag icon has a product or products linked to it — just tap on the product name, and you’re taken to the description page where you can save it for later, or buy it now.  Some products are available to purchase without even leaving the app, while others take you to the retailer’s website to finalize the transaction.  Some retailers partner with Instagram to provide a check-out process within the app. Most of those retailers are featured on Instagram’s @shop account.  Instagram’s @shop account features many retailers that have items available for purchase on the app. Meira Gebel/Business Insider 2. ...

The bigger the home, the more you need a smart assistant to tie it all together. That’s why the one that lives in your pocket is the perfect integration option. Apple HomeKit is a superb hub for all of your smart devices that’s built right in to iOS. Rather than have to control everything from a series of apps, you have one central location to activate lights, control smart cameras and more.  Now matter how large your residence is, one of the easiest ways to start a new smart home is with a Philips Hue light kit. The ubiquitous smart bulbs work well with HomeLink via the included hub. What’s nice about the hub is that it’s a one-time investment. After you have one, you can control up to 50 bulbs. In addition to illuminating rooms, you can set up routines based on the time of day or whether people are home. You can control lights with Siri, making your house or apartment dimmer or br...

Oh, you still charge your phone by plugging it into the wall each night? That’s . . . cute. One of the best things about the new iPhone is its wireless charging capability. Powered by Qi technology, it transfers energy from the coils in one device to similar coils in your phone.  But the best thing about wireless charging? You don’t need to know how it works. All you need to do is place your iPhone on a compatible charger and wander away. No cords, no fuss.  There are a lot of chargers out there that do multiple things—they charge your phone, your watch, your earbuds. They often have an extra USB port out the back. They light up, don’t light up, light up in patterns—the point being they’re needlessly complicated. This 7.5-watt Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad does one thing. You put your phone on it and it charges that device. The most complicated thing about it? Deciding...

(Photo by Andrew Redington/Getty Images) The U.S. Open returns to Pebble Beach Golf Links this week, marking the major championship’s sixth appearance on the scenic course in California. Each time the national championship has been played at Pebble Beach, a worthy champion has emerged, producing indelible shots and images forever associated with this beautiful layout cut along the rugged Carmel coast. Brooks Koepka arrives at Pebble aiming to make more history. The No. 1 player in the world has won four of the last eight majors he’s entered—including last month’s PGA Championship—and could become the first golfer since Willie Anderson (from 1903 to 1905) to win three consecutive U.S. Opens. The man Koepka supplanted atop the world rankings, his buddy Dustin Jo...
