A North Carolina valve manufacturer on Wednesday announced a “multi-million dollar” expansion at one of its four facilities in the state.

RegO, which supplies valves and controls for propane, liquified natural gas, and cryogenic gas systems, said the project would upgrade machines at its plant in Whitsett to double throughput capacity and boost efficiency by 60%.

The expansion is expected to create 50 new manufacturing jobs in Whitsett and at RegO’s headquarters in Elon, North Carolina. The new, high-volume production lines will also raise the company’s annual production capacity to more than 5 million parts.

CEO Mike Lucas said in an announcement from the company that RegO again chose to invest in its domestic manufacturing while rivals have moved offshore.

“This latest investment, together with the skill and experience of our manufacturing teams, gives our company the ability to deliver the highest quality parts for our customers at a competitive cost,” Lucas said in the statement.

The new automated machining stations would allow operators to produce brass and stainless steel components and brass, stainless steel, and ductile iron forgings without manually changing parts. They will be installed over the next eight months, the company said.
